Science Club Recycling Campaign Launched @ MAS

Modern American School

On Monday, March 16th, the Modern American School celebrated MAS Recycling Day! This day began the month-long preparation for Earth Day, an international celebration of our earth, by spreading awareness about the MAS recycling campaign. The Science Department introduced the Recycling Day idea to both the Middle School and the High School Science Clubs. While the Middle School students used their talents and knowledge to create the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!” movie, which would be shown across campus, the HS Science Club students came up with solutions to reduce the amount of waste in the kingdom and planned all of the activities of the big day.

Finally, after all the hard work done by teachers and students, the newly made Recycling bins went out and MAS held the event. This event, fully orchestrated by HS Science Club members, included a full-school viewing of the Middle School Science Club video, games, songs and many more fun activities for students from grade K-12. The Science Club members lead all of the classroom activities in the Elementary School, then went to the High School for some lively trivia. Meanwhile, the KG sang songs and made crafts out of reused goods, while the Middle School celebrated their classmates' acting abilities. The day’s events culminated in a final challenge. All students are welcome to participate in the first annual MAS Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Challenge. Over the next month, students will be making their own RRR videos with their iPads, making posters, and learning about how to save their planet. Winners of this competition will be celebrated in a ceremony on Earth Day, April 22.

We are very proud of our students and teachers at MAS for their efforts to preserve our beautiful world. As a community, we will help preserve the environment by taking what we learned from this wonderful day and making it a part of our daily lives to help mother Earth be a safe place to live after all the damage we cause. We are happy that our students had fun and learned what Recycling Day means to our society and environment.
