Six MAS Students Qualify for International Reading Competition in Dubai

Modern American School - Amman

The International Arabic Reading Competition is an international competition hosted by Al Tajheez Al Elmi International School in Dubai. The competition has served students of different ages attending schools in the Middle East for the last decade and continues to allow students to hone their reading skills as they grow. This year, 72 schools in Jordan participated in the competition.

The Modern American School was proud to have six of their students qualify for the reading competition. Faisal Tuffaha, Ali Hamdallah, Ayham Al Querneh, Janeen Shalabi, and Haly Omar gave outstanding performances and represented our school well!  Each student was required to read around 75 books in 3 months. Additionally, students met with a committee from Dubai representing the competition and members from the Ministry of Education in Jordan.

Ali Hamdallah qualified after the first round and ranked in the top tier of students from the competing schools.  He was honored in the Al Hussein Theatre in Amman with winners from other schools in the presence of his family. Ali received a certificate, a medal, and a watch to honor his outstanding performance.

The Modern American School strives to ensure that every child leaves our school with a lifelong love of reading and the necessary literacy skills to succeed in life. In following with our vision and mission, the Modern American School will continue to nurture lifelong learners and global thinkers by encouraging students to immerse themselves in literature and appreciate the importance of reading.
