Habitat for Humanity : Agents of Change

Modern American School

On the 14th of November, a team of students, supervised by the ACT Program Coordinator Mr. Mamoun Qawasmi, embarked on a one-day trip to Ajloun with a sole target: giving back to humanity through Habitat for Humanity. Motivated and selfless, we all went to Ajloun where we gave a helping hand to a house construction site.  We mixed cement, carried bricks, and eventually we put them together and placed them nicely on the walls-to-be of a future home for less fortunate people. With every brick we placed, we not only created solid walls that will soon be called “home” by a family, but we built up a future for the world.

The setting was simply gorgeous! In the middle of mountains covered in a green, autumnal coat, we showed our motivation and devotion to the world. One of the founders of Habitat for Humanity was in attendance, and handed us certificates recognizing our efforts. Of course our MAS Professional Photographer, Kamal Abu Zeineh, immortalized our day with his camera (and we urge you to have a look at the photo gallery). With a big smile on our faces we didn’t feel the weight of the bricks, because we knew for sure that it was nothing compared to the weight of the project’s aim.

At MAS we build the future one citizen at a time. In Ajloun we built it one brick at a time.
