MAS Celebrates International Women's Day 2015

Modern American School - Amman - School in Jordan

On Sunday, March 8th, the Modern American School celebrated International Women’s Day. This celebration recognizes women’s accomplishments and promotes equality for women in all aspects of life.  In the morning, each woman, regardless of age, was greeted warmly with gifts and kind words from the students and staff. Additionally, staff members received treats throughout the day to honor the special occasion. Our school strongly believes in the equality of all people, and works to encourage women to pursue their goals, no matter what.

Each year International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. The first International Women's Day was held in 1911. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organizations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women's groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day.

According to the International Women’s Day website, the theme for this year is ‘make it happen.’
The theme encourages all people to recognize and encourage the advancement of women. This includes women in leadership roles, artists, mothers, students, and more. It is important to acknowledge the incredible accomplishments women have made throughout history.
As a school, we believe in the importance of raising awareness and improving gender equality in all aspects of our lives. We are proud to join in the celebration of the economic, political, and social achievements of women past, present, and future.
