Student Council Kickstarts Winter Drive 2016

Modern American School

MAS has always been known for its community outreach and its students always volunteer and participate in various activities and projects that provide support for the less fortunate. On the 15th of January, a team of MAS students, supervised by Mr. Mamoun Qawasmi, volunteered to distribute financial aid, clothing, and blankets to families living in Al Ghor as part of our annual Winter Drive. The Winter Drive was not only a fruitful charity drive, but was also a comfort for the families of Al Ghor and filled our students with a feeling of accomplishment and compassion.

The items donated will definitely be a source of warmth in this cold, harsh winter for these poor families. As the people were getting their donations, looks of hope and joy filled their faces. We are unquestionably very proud to have helped them through this cold season. All we can hope now is that we continue receiving donations to provide for those less fortunate.

Prior to the trip to Al Ghor, high school students worked hand in hand to sort out items for the Clothing Drive. The students opened each bag, separating and categorizing the contents into individual packages suitable for families. After sorting the items, each student was given a blue bag with an assigned family and then placed the items according to family size and number of individuals. We wish to thank everyone involved for making the Winter Drive a huge success!
