About Jordan

The beautiful country of Jordan is located between the Levantine and Arabian areas of the Middle East and is characterized by its vast array of different landscapes and ancient landmarks. Rich in diverse culture, history, and exquisite Middle Eastern cuisine, Jordan is an ideal place to visit and live. The cuisine consists of a versatile array of spices, grains, meats- all of which are fresh, wholesome, aromatic, and healthy. In addition to its delightful food and rich culture, Jordan is home to a diverse population of ethnic and religious groups, all of which have full freedom to participate in their own associations, religious practices, and schools.

Amman, the modern and ancient capital of Jordan and home to the Modern American School, is situated in the Western part of the country. Amman is located less than an hour from the Dead Sea by car or taxi and a little more than four hours from Aqaba and the beautiful Red Sea. The city is organized by eight primary circles (roundabouts) and the town center is home to Amman’s artistic and cultural focal point, Rainbow Street.
