Middle School Recycling Expo & Fashion Show

Modern American School

On Thursday, February 1st, 2018, The Modern American School Middle School  hosted the annual Science Recycling Fashion Show and quite literally modeled their understanding of the importance of using the Earth's resources wisely.
Under the leadership of the Science department, students gathered used textiles and other materials that are especially difficult to recycle or reuse, such as Styrofoam cups, plastic garbage bags, bubble wrap, drinking straws,  and six-pack rings and creatively turned them into useful and fashionable clothing and accessories. After many hours of preparation and rehearsal, student performed an energized and exciting fashion show for their parents, teachers and fellow students.  This experiential way of learning deeply embeds understanding of lessons first grounded in classroom and builds fun and community along the way.
